Veronica Raine is a Southern Alberta indie folk singer-songwriter with a soft spot for love songs and a tendency to question them.

Her music lives somewhere between romance and cynicism, built around honest lyrics and stories that are usually easier to put into a song than say out loud.

Love, loss, growing up, bad decisions and everything in between.

Veronica was a writer before she was a songwriter, filling pages with short stories, poetry and dramatic scripts before picking up a guitar and writing her first original song in her early teens. Influenced by artists like Joni Mitchell and Eddie Vedder, that love of storytelling has stayed at the centre of her music ever since.

Her debut single, August, arrived in 2025 and quickly began opening doors. The song has earned thousands of streams, more than 100 radio plays worldwide, airplay from SiriusXM and CBC Music, and coverage from publications in Canada and abroad. It also broke into the Top 50 of the Canadian Indie Country Countdown, giving Veronica her first national chart placement. Her follow-up single, Moonlight, continued to build on that momentum, bringing a different side of her songwriting into focus.

Since then, she's continued building a live career alongside the recorded music. In 2026, Veronica performed at the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Tongue on the Post and East Town Get Down, while a summer on the road took her through four Canadian provinces and as far north as Whitehorse, Yukon. Along the way, she's shared bills with artists including JJ Shiplett, Mallory Chipman, John Hewitt and Amy Bishop, performing everywhere from intimate listening rooms to festival stages.

Veronica performs both solo and with her band, Fairweather Friends, while continuing to write and release music that feels unmistakably personal. Whether it's a quiet confession or something she'd probably rather not admit outside of a song, the point has stayed pretty simple: writing things down until they make a little more sense.
